guardrails, herbicide application, removal of invasive species, trash, and debris as well as establishment
           of native vegetation.

Landscape Mowing - Cuts grass on designated landscaped areas of the road right-of-way, including
pathways, to improve aesthetic appearance and maintain sight distance. Accomplished during the
           growing season.

Vegetation Chemical Controls - The placement of herbicides and pre-emergent chemicals to prevent or
reduce the growth of weeds and other undesirable vegetation within landscaped areas of the right-of-
           way.

Targeted Vegetation Treatment - Treatment of specific recurring areas for invasive noxious plants and
weeds within the right of way using specialized herbicides.

Community Service Landscaping - Includes a variety of activities and services to improve the use and
appearance of the road right-of-way. Examples are: landscape maintenance (including litter removal),
graffiti removal, dead animal pick-up or illegal dump site clean-up. Crews are composed of individuals
sentenced by the court system to community service and are supervised by county employees.

Community Service Pathway Maintenance - Removes vegetation obstructing the pathway and provides
real time observations related to the condition of these structures.

Community Service Traffic Separator Maintenance - Preventative and responsive activities managing
vegetation and debris in and around concrete medians to preserve assets, allow for proper drainage,
ensure visibility for road users and enhance aesthetic appearance.

           Contracted Services

Contracted Road Fund Overlay - Paving program focuses on repairing and restoring pavements on
county roads. Hot mix asphalt concrete (HMAC) is machine placed and compacted, under stringent
quality control measures, to repair and extend the road surface from ten to fifteen years. Completed in
late spring, summer, and early fall months.

Contracted Guardrail Upgrades - Repairing and/or replacing elements of existing guardrails. The
components may include some combination of posts, blocks, rail end treatment or structure adjustment
to ensure they're compliant with current standards.

Contracted URMD Slurry Seal - Low cost preventive treatment for paved road surfaces. A mixture of
slow setting (two to six hours) emulsified asphalt, well graded fine aggregate, mineral filler and water is
placed over a pavement to fill cracks and restore surface texture. Used on urban local streets to extend
road life about seven years. Performed only in hot weather months.

Contracted Water Quality System Maintenance - Inspection, cleaning and repair of specialized drainage
systems constructed for water quality purposes. Ensures compliance with environmental regulations.
